National Talent Search Examination is a flagship activity of the NCERT Started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme was to identify talented students and nurture their talent. Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one or more specialized areas. the scheme, therefore, covers areas like sciences. Social science, engineering, Medicine, Management and Law. It honours and helps talented students by providing FINANCIAL ASSIATANCE in the form of a monthly scholarship. For the course in Basic science, Social Science and Commerce, this assistance is provided from class Xth onwards till he/she completes his/her ph.D. For professional Courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law, this assistance is given only up to post Graduation. For the selection year 2009, the NCERT will conduct the National Talent Search Examination for student


Why should a child write NTSE ?


1.) Instant Recognition: NTSE is a very prestigious exam, and student who clear this exam, at a young age of 11-12 years get instant recognition from the society for this achievement. Being an NTSE scholor is an excellent credential to be put on a resume to make it impressive.

2.) Monetary benifit: From a very young age only, a child is able to support his/her study cost with a scholarship amount of Rs.500/- per month, right from class vill till Ph.D.

3.) Exposure to National Level Test: An exposure to a national level exam, is by far biggest reason considered by student and parents to sit for this exam. As the level of competition is increasing inindia day-by-day, the need to be prepare yourself for higher level of competition from an early age can offer tremendous confidence in a child's mind. By given test these a child is already groomed for future exams like IIT-JEE, AIPMT,CAT,GMAT,IAS etc. so, wheter a child clear the NTSE or not, he/she definitely gets the experience of writing a national level exam and find out his/he level of sustenance.


Details on NTSE


1.) Scholarships: On the basis of the examination conducted, 1000 scholarships will be awaeded for each group of student appearing for class X examinations.

2.) Reservation: 15% scholarship will be reserved for student belonging to the SC category, 7.5 % scholarships for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for physically Challenge Group of student each in respect of the class X.

3.)Remuneration: Awardees of NTS examination will receive a sum of Rs. 500/- per month as per NTs rules.

4.)Selection: There will be two- stage selection process for award of scholarship. For stage-1, selection will be done bt states/UTs through a written examination. Students who quality stage i will be eligible to appear examination. Students who quality Stage i will be eligible to appear for stage II examination Conducted by NCERT.
